There are two types of people in this world – the ones that purposely do things the hard way and those that purchase pre-lit Christmas trees. It’s 2020, and if you’d still prefer to haul a 9-foot pine tree into your home, that’s all fine and well. You then need to deal with the sap on your white carpet, the trimming, the mounting of ribbons, string, etc., and the worst part – taking the whole thing down post-Christmas and disposing of it.

The beauty of pre-lit Christmas trees is you avoid everything we just detailed above. Yes, you can still decorate the tree with your family and your personal ornaments so that cherished tradition is not compromised in the least. But what a pre-lit tree provides is less stress around the holidays, a fabulously decorated tree, and more time for you to focus on the one-hundred other things you need to do to make this Christmas a memorable one.

Pre-lit trees come in a wide array of styles, sizes, and light options. This post will answer all your relevant questions and provide ten magnificent trees to choose from.

How Long Do Pre-Lit Christmas Trees Last?

How long do pre-lit Christmas trees last?

If you’re going “pre-lit,” you don’t want to burn out early. There’s nothing worse than going dark on the actual eve or day. Your loved ones will never let it die down, and you’ll feel a sense of shame that, frankly, we don’t wish on our worst enemy. Christmas is not for spoiling, so let’s get this right the first time around.

First up, LED Christmas lighting offers a host of benefits. For one, they use much less electricity as compared to incandescent lighting and also provide sharper and brighter illumination. LEDs are well-known for delivering on their promise of richer and purer colors, and perhaps the biggest benefit… drumroll please … they last longer than incandescent lights!

The typical professional grade pre-lit LED tree will last 6 to 7 seasons. This is, of course, assuming that you’re not leaving the lights up year-round and taking said tree down before January 15th. Now, if these LED lights are of a lesser quality, expect a far shorter lifespan. While an LED light’s diodes do offer a very impressive lifespan (up to 75,000 hours for some), Christmas lights are exposed to a host of other elements as well as physical wear and tear that can decrease their lifespan.

Sun (UV) exposure is the biggest cause of deterioration, and if the tree is mounted outside it’ll certainly get battered by the rain and wind. Couple this with the cycle set-up and take-down and these lights do go through some serious jostling.

Why Won’t My Pre-Lit Tree Work?

Why won't a pre-lit tree work? Here are some troubleshooting tips.

Talk about frustrating; you’ve decided to go with a pre-lit tree, and now the darn thing decides to go out on you. If this happens on Christmas Eve after you’ve partaken in a handful of adult beverages, we wish you the best. While troubleshooting is not overly complicated when it comes to getting that tree turned back on, the Heinekens will take their toll. If a tree features multiple light plugs all stacked up together, the most common issue here is due to a loose plug. A simple check of the plugs to ensure no obstructions typically remedies this issue.

If a plug check doesn’t work, you might have a problem with the plug fuses. To run a check, simply open the plug’s door and replace any fuses that appear burnt out. If no fuses appear burnt or you’ve replaced the ones that have but are still not having any success, you might have an issue with the wiring or the bulb. If it’s a bulb issue, you can replace the bulb. If it’s a wiring issue, removing the string and replacing it with a new strand of lights is your best bet.

Prelit Christmas Tree 6ft with 400 LEDs and Storage Bag by OUSFOT

Pre-lit Christmas tree with storage bag by Ousfot.

Featuring 400 LEDs on 800 branches, this tree definitely stands out from the crowd. Satisfied clients buzz about the upgraded four-legged metal base, providing an extra layer of stability. And if you’re worried about your floor suffering undesired scratches from the base, fear not as the rubber sleeve along the bottom prevents such shenanigans from occurring.

The manufacturer claims that this tree only requires four minutes to install. That’s pretty quick, and such a claim is unsubstantiated, at least from online reviewers. We’re not saying four minutes isn’t the average, but we couldn’t find any corroborating information. There are eight warm white lighting modes available and with the previously mentioned 400 LEDs, you’ll be in good shape.
